Stay in Present Moment

Someone has rightly said “Don’t Let the Past Steal Your Present” but easier said than done, we all have some miserable moments from past to mourn on and we all keep making plans for our future and in that we forget to enjoy what we have actually in Present.

When you buy an item from a store, you want to enjoy it fully before its expiry date. So why don’t you enjoy your life before its expiry date. Yes life comes with an expiry date. So in the course of making plan for better future don’t forget to enjoy what you hold in present. We should definitely plan for future but we should not make worries of future, our present.

As we all have worries for future so we all have some painful emotions from past to mourn. Many of us has tendencies to dwell in past. No one want to remember his painful past but our minds keep wandering there.

To Stay in Present Moment, we need to practice certain arts like meditation and gratefulness to make our mind calm. Many of us only see what we don’t have but now just take a pause, close your eyes and try to see what you have at present and be grateful for all those peoples, things and relations which you have as many out there don’t have a luxury of even those. If you see nothing, still you have something and that is YOU. You are alive, you can eat whatever you want, you can go wherever you like and you can enjoy the life in various other ways.. isn’t that amazing? So why worry? Enjoy every moment. Be grateful and Just practice some meditation whether it is silent or mantra meditation that it will help you to focus on present in a long run and will give you the fulfillment. Now next time whenever your mind dwell in the past and worry for future, Don’t forget to enjoy what you have in present.

3-Day Working Week Model……

This model is suggested by Carlos Slim and Richard Branson, world’s top billionaire business leaders, according to whom, “employees can work for 11-hours a day for three days, following which they can have a 4-day long off in a week.” They believe “employee productivity can be improved with longer working hours in just three days, as against spreading them across more number of days.”

“The idea of 11-hour work days is like sprint running or a 100-meter dash and therefore the model will only suit some industries or jobs. For instance customer service, retail, entertainment and healthcare cannot operate on this model,” SAP Labs India HR head T Shivaram said. He continued, “In developing economies where productivity is the key, the need is to create more jobs and therefore this model will not work.”

slim’s proposal included two important caveats: employees would work longer hours each day, and would continue to work into their seventies. (At Slim’s own company, Telmex, he is allowing workers past retirement age to keep working four-day weeks, at full salary.)

Slim’s three-day work week was greeted with skepticism, but he is far from the first executive to criticize the structure of our working lives. In 1926, when six-day work weeks were the norm, Henry Ford proposed a five-day week: workers would receive the same pay and have their weekends free. Ford didn’t take the change as a matter of faith; he tested worker productivity beforehand. “Now we know from our experience in changing from six to five days and back again that we can get at least as great production in five days as we can in six,” he wrote. “And we shall probably get a greater, for the pressure will bring better methods.” Ford saw the five-day week as just one step in ongoing efforts to reduce working hours. “The five day week is not the ultimate, and neither is the eight hour day,” he wrote.

In my opinion, in India there is a family culture, where every person has certain responsibility towards his family which might not get possible during workdays, if this 3 day work week model is introduced. I believe in importance of Regularity.

As Mahatma Gandhi also told that:

Mahatma Gandhi Quotes

If you are working regularly for a fix time period, then after finish the work you will not be exhaust and you can also give time to your family and will happily enjoy with family but if you will work 11 hours for 3-days  continuously then you will have no time for your family and also for your own-self because you will be too tired to other work.

We want productivity and quality which can comes only by regularity. Well, if the complete idea of introducing 3 week work model is flexibility then there are other options. Giving options in flexibility not in terms of working hours but how and where to accomplish the work would even contribute in retaining talent.
